I have been trying to calculate the amount of CO2 that goes in and out of the waters in Jamaica Bay in New York City. I am interested in the gas exchange on a seasonal and interannual timescale.

Jamaica Bay is a coastal estuarine, with a marshy ecosystem. The high biological activity in this environment leads to a local seasonal carbon cycle. The rate at which Jamaica Bay releases CO2 and absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere is unknown.

Understanding the coastal impact is important for the global carbon budget.
